Client: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)

Period: January 2002 – August 2002

Role: Team Leading, Analysis and Programming

With the formation of the new Science Directorate (formerly CSG) within DEFRA, redevelopment of the IMPACT System was commenced to become a new Science Information System (SIS). SIS was to incorporate information on all ex-MAFF R&D and non-R&D and ex-DETR science projects within one database for reporting to the new Chief Scientific Advisor (CSA). The project used the DSDM (Dynamic Systems Development Method) RAD (Rapid Application Development) methodology.  Ambica led a development team and improved the existing user interface for the current ex-MAFF R&D users. Development was on a Compaq Proliant server running Windows NT 4.0 Server, SQL Server 7.0 and IIS (Internet Information Server) plus Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise Edition using Visual Interdev 6.0, HTML, VBScript and ASP (Active Server Pages). Following additional changes were made to the SIS after going live:
