These paintings were started as a study into colour and form in a co-operative venture between Alec Morison, Edith Morison and Dr. Herbert Geuter.
In the paintings there is an attempt to extract the ESSENCE of a chosen subject expressed in terms of colour and form, some partly representational.
To obtain the desired qualities the colours are taken from nature, gem stones, flowers etc. Part of the study is to take into account the effect of one colour upon another, each colour changing according to its situation.
The medium used is water colour with a technique that Alec developed in order to obtain considerable depth and tone producing richness and luminosity.
There are some 56 paintings in the Alec Morison Charitable Trust's collection, We show two or three different ones every few month in rotation.
