Episode One.... The Story So Far

Nestled in the western cleavage of the California-Nevada border lies the small motel and pet cemetery of Eldorado Hills. The Logandale family have kept the business ticking over for half a century and now the future lies with the last of the line - Carp Logandale.

However, all is not going well for young Carp. His love is torn, like a damp grocery bag, between the motel business and his high-school sweetheart - Fallon Lovelock. They had hoped for a brighter future since Fallon's breast augmentation surgery, but that now seems to have only encouraged her latent promiscuity and Fallon is now trapped on the one way street from prom queen to hooker.

Not that Carp's business dealings are in better shape. Money is short since Californian legislation was passed which banned pet owning in all public places. The pollution of the sidewalks had become just too much to take. Oh sure - there had been a brief windfall as the pet cemetery did a roaring trade following the new law, but now that money had gone and the motel itself was a loss maker.

Rich pickings, it seems, for one San Rafael, a wealthy casino owner from the nearby Nevada desert. The motel has long been in his sights for future expansion plans with but one small problem - it lies on the Californian side of the border. But now with local sheriff Gilroy Hollister on his side (and you can bet on his payroll too) he is going all the way to the State Governor, Plymouth Jackson, to get that border moved.

Meanwhile, the staff at the motel get on with their lives as best they can. Napa Sonoma, the pool cleaner, desperately tries to avoid the wild advances of Fallon as he pursues his own conquest of maid Benicia Martinez. But doesn't receptionist Tracy Manteca spend far too much time on the phone for such a quiet motel? Who can she be talking to? And what about...?
