Now this is what I call heaven, watching the sun rise and mist rising off the water. This is what my fishing is all about and coincidently is the best time to catch one of my favourite species, the tench.

Could it get any better? Seeing a lovely dawn and catching a 6.5lb tench, what more could you ask for?

Heres a nice bream from one of the Cheshire meres I fish this was one of the best fish from a 15 fish bag.all bream and all around the 6-7lb mark. I was fishing a double hook paternoster type rig with various baits which were alternated throughout the day, the only bait I could catch the fish on though was good old fashioned breadflake pinched on a size 10 hook.

Here's a good friend of mine Andrew Huxley with a 10lb rainbow from Pen-y-ffrith it was only the 11th fish Andrew had ever caught!

I have been considering buying a pole recently so I asked a matchman friend of mine (Ian Davies) to show me the ropes and teach me the basics of fishing the pole. I found it quite hard fishing with a pole whilst sitting on a fox chair, but soon got the hang of it and was soon catching quite a few nice fish. Ian on the other hand was really struggling on the next peg and put it down to the rain we had the previous night, the fish being scared of having a pole over their heads and most other excuses which are usually cited. What really hurt was him accusing me of "cheating" by using flavoured meat, corn and hemp and putting him in a duff peg which was within spitting distance of me! Oh well I've already bought myself a seatbox and I'm going to test drive a few poles at Stapely this weekend. If anyone has any recommendations please email me.
