The Severn starts out life on Plinlimmon just a mile from it's
sister river the Wye. In these upper stretches it is a lovely
trout stream and brownies & grayling proliferate. The Vyrnwy
enters at Melverley and immediately the river doubles in width.
Downstream towards Shrewsbury and you can find most species
of coarse fish. Top of the list is barbel but roach, bream,
pike, chub and dace all attain a good size.
