I fished there last summer and have forgotten the name. It has only one lake, approx 4 acres in size. There is a caravan park attached (its possible that the venue began as a camping business). You are able to drive your car right around the lake and can park next to your peg. That's all i can remember, if anyone recognises the description I would be grateful for the name and tel no. if poss. Many Thanks, Antony. Well how do i start, I used to have a very nice boat in a partnership with a portugese bloke called JOHN PAUL NETO who i thought was quite sound and had many of nights good fishing with him until i decided i was moving back up North from where i come from, So i asked JOHN PAUL NETO if he wanted to buy my share of the boat, which i said i dont expect him to pay all the money now and he said he would and gave my a quater of the money which i was happy with and agreed to pay the balance four months later when he got his bonus,He failed to do so and the boat got impounded as he failed to pay for the storage costs after i was at the side of the road with the police for nearly 6 hours after i was doing him a favour in bringing it back from portsmouth as i had the 4x4, but while i am freezing the bollocks off at the side of the road with my mate Daigo and two jam sandwiches and a ambulance and felt a dick he was sitting nice and warm in the house and didn,t give a shit, I got the boat recoveered back to his house, he sent it away again on the recovery truck to be fixed and he failed to go and collect it, i already forked out 250 pound out of my pocket for recovery costs and took a week to get half back off him, Then i gets a telephone off the recovery people 2 months later saying there was nearly 1500 pound storage costs plus cost of repairs,I refered them to JOHN PAUL NETO, well never seen the boat again and i never receieved all my money, JOHN PAULL NETO YOU,RE A CUNT!!!!!! The crabs were 50p each and were only the size of a twenty pence piece. They were so small I could not get the shells of the peeler crabs without totally destroying the things into a mass of pulp. Can anyone tell me... is it buyer beware or is there a legal size for crabs that are sold to the general public?. Needless to say all fish caught were on rag and lug as the crabs disintegrated off the hook as they hit the water. Alex Nelson in Donaghadee at 12:20:11 Saturday February 21 2004 I came across your site whilst searching in vain for information on the icelander 18. Do you know of anyone (anywhere) where I would be able to find out about these boats. I bought one a couple of months ago with a 55 oil injected Suzuki I was attracted to the boats lines and solid look and feel, BUT I know nothing about their handling, seakeeping, ect. I got an address for icelander boats along with a telephone number but have been unable to get a response from either of these. How much do you know about how they function and would you be willing to advise on your knowledge. ? I would be very grateful if you anyone would reply with any information at all. I live in a small town (Donaghadee) just beside the entrance to Belfast lough and intend to use the boat for pleasure fishing in this area. The boat operated on Lake Windermere and has never even been antifouled. I am now faced with the usual knowledge base of locals who describe the boat as fresh water based, no good at sea, cant cope with a running tide, just out and out dangerous for open water. I dont think these boats were built for fresh water, and their lines ect suggest that they should be a good sea boat, the problem is I am basing this on my personal view of the way the boat looks, while I would dearly like some factual information on it in real life. Again if you can help me or put me in touch with anyone else who can I would be very grateful. Gazza in Shoreham-Chichester at 14:20:41 Wednesday April 9 2003 Any one wanna share any good gps co-ordianates for some good sport out of Chichester??? Cheers! Shaun Young in Newcastle/Portpatrick at 05:11:47 Wednesday April 9 2003 Ian you'll need two lots of tackle.A stiffish beachcaster with a 7ooo size reel for bottom fishing 30 pound mainline straight through with a single hook rig with a rotten bottom depending on the area you fish. This set up will catch you possible codling but you'll need fresh or frozen crab.Ragworm, lugworm can be dug at Stranraer, frozen baits sandeel mackeral squid can be bought at the tackle shop at stranraer. If you speak to the shop owner he'll give you directions to the best marks. At this time of year it's still a little early to target the summer species but you'll most likely catch dogfish pollack whiting small coalfish and possible thornback ray all depending on what areas you target. The YELLOW ILSE is a good all round venue for codling and pollack. The best way to target the pollack is to use a spinning rod-casting weight 2-3oz,or a light uptider-carp rod.Match this with a medium sized fixed spool reel 15 pound line with a 20ft 40 pound shock leader. You'll need the leader mainly to stop big pollack snapping your line on rocks. You can try spinning a red gill small or medium black ones seem to fish best.A two ft trace is long enough any longer and it tangles.fish a black gill or a head hooked ragworm or frozen sandeel as a running ledger with a 2-3oz lead.Cast out let your gear hit bottom, then aslow retrieve.Float fishing is another great way to target pollack.Use a cigar float with a cocking weight of 1-3 oz depending on the sea conditions[small float flat sea. bigger float choppy sea].Tie a sliding stop knot onto your 40 pound leader, you'll set your fishing depth with this.Slide on a small bead then your choice of float your ball weight another small bead then a small swivel.Tie on a hook length of 30pound,again about 2ft.A 3/0 hook baited with sandeel or ragworm try putting one up the line and head hook one.First light or dusk is best for pollack,a sea with a bit movement is better then a flat smooth sea especially if its bright and sunny. If you need to know anything else give me an email.
