The museum was created in 1988 on an special site - in the former cigarette paper factory "Joseph Bardou - Le Nil",  a short distance from the Ecole de l'Image and the Centre National de la Bande Dessinée et de l'Image.

It houses collections concerning the paper industry of France and of Angouleme.  Temporary exhibitions are regularly dedicated to historical, economic, social and artistic aspects of the Charante "Papeterie"

It is open from Monday to Sunday, from 14.00 to 16.00, except public holidays

Free admission,  groups on appointment

It is also a documentation centre, accessible upon request.
