William Heath Robinson made his early reputation as a book illustrator, but his greatest
fame rests with his drawings of wierd and wonderful machines. Both of these
aspects of his career are represented on this site, in the E A Poe and BBC sections, respectively, and there is an entry for him in the Biographies section. In 1934 he returned to book illustration with his "Book of Goblins", from which these drawings come. But these aren't the Hobgoblins of nightmares; they are a much more friendly and less spiteful crowd.
