New Rift was discovered in 1985. Soon after the breakthrough, Jim Birchill scribbled a brief handwritten description saying simply "25 ft pitch, then flat out crawl to 160 ft pitch" which we followed up the next weekend. At the bottom of the big pitch there are some fine formations in large passegeway, which connects through to Large Pot through the Bostic Crawl.
The first set of photos were taken by me a few weeks after the pot was discovered.

This low passageway contained a gour pool, now destroyed.

Above the main passageway, a hole in the rock goes all the way through to the other side and contains some stal bosses.

A rope on a pulley now leads up to the top of the pitch above this flowstone.

The next set of photos were taken by Iain Holland on 14th Nov 2004

A stalactite with a number of helictites growing out from it.
