Premiere Tutorial 3: Transitions
These pages are still under
construction and more information will be added in due
course

At the moment all we have are cuts between shots, the next step
will be to add transitions between your shots to make an interesting
join between clips. You can choose from a variety of wipes or
dissolves.
- To expand the tracks so you can see the video 1a, 1b and
Transition tracks, click on the triangle next to Video 1a.
- Align one clip underneath the other as in the diagram
- to add a transition either:
- using the 'place on timeline' button align the edit line
with the start of the lower clip (as in the diagram), then
press the 'add default transition' button.
- select a transition from the transition menu and drag it
into the T track directly between the two tracks
- There are a lot of transitions to choose from. The most used
is normally the dissolve, but it depends on the style & pace
of the video.
If you double click on a transition an edit box will appear. From
here you can alter all the transitions settings such as direction and
style. The speed of a transition is governed by its length on the
timeline
Some special transition require you to find extra files such as
the gradient wipe where you have to select a picture to use the
wipe. You can learn all about the different transitions from the
transition page
