The Basics: This is a very powerful non-linear editor with a host of special effects, transitions and professional editing features, and is usually bundled with video editing cards, making it a widespread program. I found it far easier to use than Avids own Videoshop even though it is aimed at beginners. It can be customised to keep the screen clutter to a minimum and will also run best on a G3/4. There are plenty of 3rd party add ons, in particular those from MetaTools which are very good. This is aimed at professionals and amateurs alike, and is quite easy to learn the basics. |

What else can you do with it: As well as editing you can add transitions between clips, add filters to enhance poor footage or jazzy FX. The titler is quite good. You can also do compositing using the various compositing keyers (like chromakey). There are audio filters to sweeten the soundtrack and up to 99 audio & video tracks.
