Sony 60ES DAT

What is it?

Sony 60ES DAT

What does it do?

Plays and records onto Digital Audio Tape (DAT). This is very high quality (better than CD's !) and as it is recorded digitally, there is no signal loss when recorded (digitally) onto another DAT machine.

How do you use it?

Use the Open/close button to put the tape into the tray. The input should be set to analog and you should practice with the record level first to amke sure you do not overload the signal (ie, go into the red on the level bar). The DAT is 'hardwired' to the ADAT machine. This means you do not have to connect the patchbay up to record onto the DAT, but you will to play back a tape.

Misc.

DAT's are used to master a recording. This tape is then taken to a duplicator who will create CD's from this master tape.
