Welcome to the T3 pages. These pages are for Collingwood staff & students to learn about the resources available to them in the studio, though all are welcome to browse through. I welcome any suggestions about improvements.
The Collingwood College Media Studio (also known as T3 or the Motorola Studio) is part of the new Halls-Dickerson Technology Block (or T-Block) and is where I work. We received sponsorship from Motorola to equip the studio for audio/video recording. It is a basic studio in that it has one large room as the studio, and a small room as the control room/edit suite, and a small storeroom. The studio & control room are seperated by triple glazing and the walls are sound dampened (though not sound proof) to try and reduce noise around the studio.
The bulk of our money was spent on audio equipment as it is heavily used by the music department. We have a Spirit 24 track desk, an 8 track ADAT digital multitrack recorder, DAT machine, an assortment of sound effects machines and microphones. There is now a Pentium PC running Logic Audio Gold and using MIDI with a Korg keyboard.
The video side is equally well equipped. We have a Panasonic MX50 vision mixer operating with some old Panasonic F10 cameras (from the original MSX studio the college had). We have just bought 2 Panasonic S-VHS camcorders and edit on Panasonic domestic VCRs. In June '99 the CCA (the college's parents asssociation) gave us funds for a nice shiny new Blue & Ice Power Mac G3 with a Media 100qx broadcast quality capture card, 2x9Gb SCSI drives and Adobe Premiere 5.1 so we are able to edit our videos on the latest technology.
