Synopsis:
Tom Clancey has written a series of books about the charactor Jack Ryan, a CIA anaylist who invariably gets entangled in operational matters. They are serious thrillers which contain detailed information about military operations and tactics which give an insight into a world few of us will ever visit for real. The first movie stars Sean Connery as Marko Ramius, a Russian Nuclear Submarine commander taking his sub to the states either to defect to or destroy the USA. Alec Baldwin plays Jack Ryan, who beleives Ramius is trying to defect, but no one knows for sure, not even Ryan, and so a deadly game of cat and mouse is played in the Atlantic Oceon.

I haven't read many books since leaving school, but after reading "Red October" for a film/novel comparison essay at college, I was hooked. I now have the complete Jack Ryan series as well as a few other Clancey novels.
