Once you've stepped into the cockpit of X-Plane you'll start to wonder what all those instruments actually are. You may recognise the altimeter or the stopwatch, but what is a VVI or turn co-ordindator? Well, hopefully I will be able to help you there with this tutorial on the instruments and controls for the X-Plane aircraft. There is a similar tutorial on the FAQ site, look on the X-Plane site.
Click on the pictures to go to the Instrument panels.
There is a great site devoted to the cockpit instruments of the Boeing 777......check it out to see a real cockpit!

When you first start flying try something simple like this single engine Cessna 172 which will teach you the basics of how to fly. |
Once you've got the basics down, try a passenger jet like an Airbus A300, or my favourite a Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet. |
Once you've got the hang of fixed wing aircraft, try a helicopter! It is totally different to flying a plane. The larger ones like this Bell 206 Jet Ranger are normally easier to fly than the small Robinson helicopters as they have a bit more power and better stability. |

Supplemental Instruments
In Plane Maker you can add extra instruments such as a Stormscope or GPS display |

There are also a few other goodies you can add to make your aircraft that little bit special. |
