BLUE-SKYE THINKERS

REFRESH PAGE

An active website is constantly changing. That means that all pages may be subject to revision whilst old versions are binned by their author. I have been impatient with websites that seemed not to have been updated and only whilst constructing www.blue-skye.org.uk did I discover that it was actually my problem. They probably were updated, but my computer needed to be told not to show me the old version. Windows creates temporary files to enable web pages to load rapidly when you revisit them. BUT it loads the previous version and it's up to the user to Refresh each page. Nobody told me.

I don't know whether or not everybody needs to do this. Perhaps other computers are set up to provide the most up-to-date version every time ... but mine isn't. There are at least three ways to Refresh:

1. Click the green arrows button on the browser tool bar.
2. Press F5.
3. Right click on the mouse and left click on Refresh.

So, please Refresh web pages and discussion documents routinely until and unless I discover that the process is unnecessesary and remove this advice. I don't necessarily wish to continue doing this, so if you have advice for me (and, probably, other internet users) please put me right.

Many thanks, James.
