FERNS I have compiled a sequence of 14 PowerPoint shows using hundreds of my best digital photos of the British pteridophytes. It is expected that users will already be owners of The Fern Guide who will use the book for field identifications and the DVD to explore the biology of British pteridophytes in depth at home.

IF YOU'RE WONDERING IF IT WOULD BE WISE TO BUY THE FERNS DVD, PLEASE READ:

REVIEW in Irish Naturalists' Journal

Chapters include 1. an introduction to pteridophytes, their structure, relationships and evolution; 2-3. fern frond and rhizome anatomy; 4-13. habitat, habit, reproduction and other aspects of all the British pteridophytes: the Ferns, Clubmosses, Quillworts & Horsetails including 11-12 a detailed study of the Male Ferns; 14. Ferns in Winter (for 'low season' botanical pleasure).

I find myself constantly revising and improving presentations and I need to take new pictures of few rare species. 'Registered Users' who keep in touch with me or visit this site from time to time can receive updates which I will provide for free.

SEASHORE The seashore presentations are based upon field courses run for first year undergraduates by the Universiy of York's Biology Department, in which I have been involved for over 30 years. They can be used by lecturers for teaching or students for learning/revision.

The lectures describe many aspects of the seashore, including shore types; tides and exposure; and the diversity, biology and zonation of the animals and plants that live there. There are also fully illustrated instructions for basic experimental work.

I also supply notes to accompany the 'slides' and a handbook (Marine Biology Field Course Manual) in printable PDF format.
