As far as UFO's and Government are concerned the in word seems to be "cover up". Whether or not there is a cover up I do not know, but it appears, however, that some prominent people do.
The Don Valley MP, Martin Redmond, is concerned about reports of a UFO, with a red and green rotating light, that appeared over East Anglia in October. Apparently it was tracked on radar, hovering in the sky for several hours, by operators at RAF Neatishead and RAF Northwoodhas, before flying off down the coast.
The UFO was also reported by the crews of a civilian aeroplane and those of a tanker. It would seem that a video of the event was taken by police officers and handed in to the MoD.
The Defence Minister Earl Frederick Howe has revealed that all RAF station commanders are under orders to report all UFO sightings. He goes on to say "So far as the existence of extraterrestrial life is concerned we remain open-minded".
When Martin Redmond raised questions as to why no aircraft were scrambled when an object such as this was flying so close to the coast, Earl Howe stated that the RAF does not respond unless there is evidence UK airspace has been "compromised". He added "To date no sighting has provided such evidence. We do not investigate further or provide an explanation for what might have been observed".
Mr.Redmond considers that the answers he have been given leads him to believe there is more to the affair. He accuses the Government of covering up information on UFO's. "The only thing I know for sure is this whole issue is shrouded in secrecy" he says.
Recently, the Defence Minister Nicholas Soames refused to reveal the number of UFO's reported by RAF pilots since 1966. Adding that the information would cost to much to obtain.
