Welsh Family History Guide
I often get e-mails from people tracing their family history in Tredegar or Wales. To help with this I am placing information on this page.
Civil registration of births marriages and death began in England and Wales in 1837. Previous to this parish records were kept. This information will be examined later.
The Public Records Office has a web site with information leaflets etc. on how to proceed, in the UK, to find genealogical information. They have a WEB site on the following link:
Copies of all registers of births, deaths and marriages are in the custody of the Registrar General and all have been indexed. The indexes are arranged alphabetically in quarterly volumes and are available for public inspection free of charge at:
