The map names about twenty places in Dorsetshire and another six outside the county boundary. Several coastal features are also named.

Roads shown are:
1. Axminster in Devonshire to Shaftsbury via Crookhorn, Yeovill, and Sherborn. The road crosses into Wiltshire where to Salisbury is engraved beside it.
2. Axminster in Devonshire via Bridport and Dorchester to Cranborn. There are branches from this road, one from just west of Bridport to Lime and another from Dorchester to the south coast near Portland.

The Piddle river is named. Two larger rivers are shown but they are not named. There are details of the county's rivers in the left-hand information panel.

Second state

The imprint is unchanged.

About sixty-five place names, including some coastal features, have been added.

No roads are added.

The two larger rivers have been named the Stower and Frome.

The dotted line Somersetshire/Wiltshire boundary has been extended.
