Chorographia Britanniæ has four general maps of England and Wales, two of which have associated tables. They are located near the beginning of the atlas, after the title page and dedication plate and before the English county maps and the regional maps of Wales. They are:
- A Chart Shewing the Sea Coast of England & Wales
- This is the only map in the atlas that has no left hand information panel
- England & Wales divided into County's (sic)
- A panel at the left of the map lists the counties with their lengths, breadths and areas
- A Map of the Great Roads from London
- A panel at the left of the map gives the distances of cities and county towns from London
- Two tables of High Roads follow this map
- A Map of the principal Cross-Roads
- A panel at the left of the map gives the distances from each other of the cities and towns on the cross roads
- A table of Cross Roads follows this map
At the end of the atlas after the County and regional maps is a table on two plates:
- An Alphabetical List of all the Cities, Boroughs, & Market Towns in England & Wales
In the "Second Edition" of the atlas first published in 1745 two further plates are added:
- Rates for Hackney Coaches, Rates for Hackney Chairmen and Rates for Watermen
More details and images of all the maps and tables can be found by following the links in the menu at the side of this page.
