so may WyrdR FateStorm is roleplaying evolved. Where the setting and the mechanics are interwoven, removing the need for random determination, relying upon the player's Avatars to determine success or failure. Where the player's Avatars, possessed of a spiritual connection to the multiverse known as an Archetype, fulfill roles, legends and tragedies that form the rich tapestry of the Soluüs. While many 'diceless' roleplaying games of the past have placed a heavy burden of responsibility upon the arbitrator of the rules, FateStorm places the responsibility for success upon the player and their Avatar, leaving the Fate free to concentrate upon the story and drama. |
When FateStorm was first being developed it was built on the understanding that traditional dice based roleplaying games limited the players and thier characters in ways that not only hampered roleplay but disrupted the suspension of disbelief.Yet as FateStorm developed it became not only an alternative system but also an integrated multiverse. The VRS and the settings of FateStorm are built upon common themes in myth, symbolism, legend, parapsychology, and the collective unconsciousness. |
