Joe Boyd's departure from Hannibal Records led Baka Beyond to release their fifth album, "East to West" on their own label, March Hare Music. |
"East to West" now available. To listen or buy click here |
The opening track "Awaya Baka", a song written by Baka guitarist Pelembie, features a chorus sung by Baka children recorded in the forest. The next track, "Braighe Locheil", is a Scottish song sung in Gaelic augmented by Senegalese kora and Ghanaian balafon, whilst "Wandering Spirit" is based on a dance that the Baka asked Martin Cradick to take to the outside world seamlessly combined with an Irish slipjig. |
