The
Bath Society of Botanical Artists was established in 2002. It
is now a thriving, friendly society of over forty members. Workshops
with visiting artists are organised and regular outings take place.
Several
members hold Royal Horticultural Society medals for their botanical
art and some are members of the Society of Floral Painters.
An
exhibition is held annually in Bath and and a calendar of members'
work is produced showing the various mediums used; watercolour,
pen and ink, graphite and coloured pencil. (Please see Gallery
for examples)
The
society is currently involved in producing illustrations of some
of the plants introduced by the hunter Augustine Henry. The proposal
is to hold an exhibition of these works later in the year.
