Any
Other Business
1.
Further to the appeal by the Chairman at the last meeting a letter was
received and is reproduced below for members to comment on. Any other
ideas could also be distributed in the minutes and could remain anonymous
by handing into Chairman :-
"My thoughts on Blue Circle (Sitt) SAC.
I
feel that we could do with a couple of people who's job would be to
find out what and where the fish are before each meeting allowing us
to make an informed guess as to where might be best to hold the next
match.
Also we do need to consider the needs of all the members as I feel it
is unfair to discriminate against the young, old and unfit by choosing
venues that are either a long walk, may be dangerous for youngsters
or put them at a disadvantage.
My reasoning for this is: -
1. We fish by length. If we fish all scratch matches or difficult to
get to venues, some club members stand a good chance of not catching
a fish all year at a club match.
2. If we want to attract youngsters and lady anglers along to our matches,
they need to be able to catch fish. If you blank too often you may well
be inclined to give up.
3. I know people say we go to the same old venues all the time, but
you have to go where the fish are, not hope the fish are going to move
along to where we have chosen.
4. Does the recent attendance of club matches mirror what people think
of recent venues?"
There
being no other business the Chairman closed the monthly meeting and
opened the Extraordinary General Meeting
An
Extraordinary General Meeting of Blue Circle (Sittingbourne)
Sea Angling Club was held at the Ivy Leaf Memorial Club, Sittingbourne
on Thursday 23rd March 2001.
Members
Attending and apologies were as shown above.
The
EGM was called to discuss the proposal that the Kent Casting Club should
be disbanded in favour of joining Kent Sportscast.
Heated
discussion took place on the pro's and con's of disbanding KCC and the
reasons for and against this including the lack of support from members
of Blue Circle, the lack of "administration" within KCC, the
loss of revenue to Blue Circle, cost of membership of Blue Circle members
to join Kent Sportscast, the loss of members from KCC when Kent Sportscast
starts up, lack of official casting distance recognition when Kent Sportscast
starts up, loss of any advantage by being a founding member to Kent
Sportscast etc.
J
Mann offered to resign his position on the committee of KCC but this
was rejected.
It
was proposed and seconded that any decision about the future of KCC
should be made at the AGM. This proposal was passed by the casting vote
of the Chairman.
There
being no other business the Chairman closed the Extraordinary General
Meeting
