Minutes 15th January 2003
The AGM
of Blue Circle (Sittingbourne) Sea Angling Club was held at the Billet
Pub, Sittingbourne on Wednesday 15th January 2003.

C Porter, C Clifton, R Clifton, G Clifton, M Hammond, K Hammond, D Allen,
J Allen, A Crayford and T Price.
Mr Darren
Sandy, Mr Dave Curtis and Mr Colin Saunders were welcomed as new members
to the club. It explained that Hope Fishing Club had now disbanded and
that some of their former members may be interested in joining Blue Circle.
D Curtis to write to their members and Secretary to send newsletters to
them as well.

Matters
Arising
1. Clubman of the year forms had been circulated
2. Kent Casting Club has been disbanded
3. Club did not renew affiliation to NFSA and had taken out its own insurance
policy
4. N Sharrocks had produced a 'streamline' set of club rules that had
been adopted

Report
Ray Hills gave a brief report and thanked members for their continuing
support.
Chairman's
Report
Nigel Sharrocks gave a brief report thanking secretary for his hard work,
thanking Mark Hammond for his efforts throughout the year, thanked members
for supporting events arranged and was pleased that membership was upon
last year.
Secretary's
Report
John Padmore gave a brief report thanking everyone for their efforts throughout
the year and reminded members about the various events arranged throughout
the year.
Treasurers
Report
The secretary circulated the report prepared by Reg Butler showing that
the club had £????.?? under its control. The accounts were proposed
and accepted as a true record. Reg Butler was thanked for his hard work.

Business
1. It was agreed that a committee would meet away from club meetings to
formulate social events/appointed tasks for the club and report their
deliberations to members for agreement at club meetings in an effort to
save time at club meetings.
2. Subscriptions would remain as £12 adult, £4 senior statesmen/juniors,
£20 family membership, £1 on attendance at each match (which
could be paid in advance for the year if a member wanted). Treasurer was
reminded that those members who attended the Kent Classic last year would
receive a £5 discount from their subscription.
3. The club account would be changed to a 'cheque book account' with Kay
Hammond, Ray Hills and Nigel Sharrocks being authorised signatories, with
2 signatures required on cheques.
4. Rule changes - it was voted to keep measurement as the method of deciding
matches but it was agreed to run 4 matches as points matches. Members
aired their views on the trial points system used last year and the committee
was instructed to investigate the various points systems and to report
their findings back to the club for a decision.
5. It was voted that no Angler of the Year points would be awarded for
attending monthly meetings.
6. It was voted that an Angler of the Year point would be awarded to members
attending social events.
7. Members agreed to hold monthly trips on the third weekend of every
month.
8. Pairs competition results would be based upon points system as this
year but would be publicised more often to bring it to member's attention.
Pairs for the competition would be drawn at the January monthly meeting
and cost £1 per person to enter.
9. The Knockout competition would be drawn at the January monthly meeting
and would cost £1 per person to enter.
10. Presentation meal arrangements are to be addressed by the committee.
The approximate cost will be £10 members, £15 non members
and 14 years old and under would be free. Numbers are required by the
January monthly meeting. The committee will decide upon the donation to
the Mayors Charity appeal.
11. Members were asked to return permanent trophies to the January monthly
meeting with a view to possibly replacing some.
12. The BBQ, treasure hunt and camping trip would be arranged later this
year.
13. Members discussed the need for the scales and first aid kit to be
on the beach at all trips.
14. Members should consider the need for toilet facilities when choosing
venues.
15. Members considered fishing for a boat trophy this year. Nigel Sharrocks
to investigate boat prices at Queenborough. Colin Saunders to enquire
about available dates on the Medway boats.
