The Circular - your monthly newsletter Here is what you have been waiting for.... your newsletter from your fishing club with all the news and views you need to know.
Well what new can I tell you about Ramsgate pier that you don't know already...well very little as I don't know much however the results from the last time we fished there in December indicate that we will catch whiting, dabs, flounder, an eel or two, maybe a bass and some pouting. The best place last time out were just past "Cod Corner" (I've got no idea why its called that....it was certainly uncontaminated with cod last time!!!) on the front of the pier. There maybe a mackerel or two to catch so bring some mackerel feathers just in case. There may also be the odd pollack or scad patrolling along the pier wall so bring along a trace with some booms and light line to fish down the wall I caught a small bass like that last time so you never know.... I expect lug will be the best bait to use but the fish to be caught down the wall will like to see those wriggly ragworm tails flapping around...maddies may work well here.....peeler crab will be popular with the eels and bass but not with your wallet! Remember this is a points match so the more "unusual" fish will bring greater points so try to find out where these will be - in close, out further, down the side of the wall, at the end of the pier or near the beach or in the nice warm cafe at the end of the pier...who knows its up to you to search them out...you don't have to stay in one position on the pier...have a wander you never know what you will catch....but if you catch something good let me know straight away and I'll come and fish next to you!! If you have any queries, you are not sure about anything or you need to know something phone me on the number below and I'll do my best to help. Unfortunately for you I'm away on holiday until Saturday (off to do a bit of surfing at Croyde Bay, Devon) but leave me a message on the answer machine and I'll get back to you or phone Nigel Sharrocks who will be more than willing to help out I'll see you on the beach...now where is that boogie board?
