12.02 The
Circular - your monthly newsletter The next trip is looming up shortly at the sunny warm Billet on Friday 27th December where we will have a post Christmas get together for a drink and a laugh at all the cracker jokes you've read over the last few days. We have the rear room where we have our meetings booked for our gathering so bring along the wives/girlfriends/kids to join in. It will start at about 7.30-8.00 pm ish so I hope to see you there. The times for the next match on 26th Jan at Medway City Estate are in the minutes it will go into the evening so you will need your lights but as it finishes at 8pm it should not be too late before you get home. Expect to catch sole, pouting, whiting, codling, bass and flounder with maybe the chance of a 'conger' according to local experts. The fish will be smallish in size so use a 3-hook paternoster with size 2-4 hooks with lugworm or ragworm. Maddies can be very effective here if you can get them. Look at the ground you will be fishing before the tide comes in to see if there are any channels or gullies that the fish may swim through in front of you. The tide can pull quite strongly here some make sure you take some grip weights. Some areas can be snaggy so have a look if you can before you set up and if you are unlucky enough to keep getting snagged up move to another spot where you may be better off. Don't forget the AGM is at the Billet on Wednesday 15th January at 8 pm so come along and have your say on how you want your club to be run, change those rules, set those subscriptions and decide how you want to spend your clubs money. That's all for the newsletters this year, have a look back over your fishing last year and ask yourself did you learn/improve much this year? I don't think I have learnt much that was new this year but have picked up a few things that I've made a note of .as you go about this fishing lark the more you do it the less there is to learn but you often forget things that you did read/learn/experience in years gone past. So my top tip for 2003 is get a diary for your fishing tackle box and write down what you caught, where, when, with what and note down those tips and ideas you pick up along the way .it will make interesting reading in 2004 ..2010 etc!!! I'll see you in the pub and then in the pub and then on the beach John Padmore |
