Blue Circle (Sittingbourne)
Sea Angling Club

Issue 08.03 25.07.03

The Circular - your monthly newsletter

Now here comes a busy month with regard to your fishing club - 3rd August casting with top bomber Jason Mann - 10th August sees antiques expert Kerry selling your unwanted knick knacks at the Rainham boot fair - go along and buy some of it back if you want - 17th August fishing on the Medway and finally on the 24th August there is the clubs Treasure hunt for you all to support at the Billet - I've got to do so much gardening and DIY to get permission from Yvonne to do all these you wouldn't believe it!!

Expect to catch dabs, pouting, whiting, bass, plaice, sole, flounder and eels from the Medway. Ragworm and crabs will be the best all round baits to use but as usual take some variety with you if you can - a few lugworm will be irresistible to the sole - white ragworm highlights a bait in clear water - Maddies will be attractive to everything in the river and bass love those big red ragworms in the river.

Have a look at the clubs website for the results from 30th July 2000 to give you some clues as to what you will catch or have a look back through those past minutes and newsletters that I am sure you all keep for reference!! Better still have a look in your own fishing diary that I am sure you all keep. If you cant find yours at the moment then let me 'share' (I'm such a modern man!!) the notes in mine - I was sandwiched in the top three places between the Allen boys - I was fishing at canon nr 2 along the promenade and the Allen gang were fishing at the Dockyard end. Most of my fish (pouting) were caught on Maddies after the tide had turned and they were 57 yards out from the bank caught on size 2 hooks with offset points with red sequins on 248 mm long hook snoods all fished above the weight. Now that gives a few clues to what and where the fish will be caught doesn't it?

Why not keep your own fishing diary you never know when it will come in handy.

Give Jason Mann a call and he might be able to get some Maddies for you. Alternatively try ordering some at Maidstone Angling (01622 677326) and while your there have a look around what I think is one of the best tackle shops in Kent. Normal ragworm will also catch fish, as will peeler crab if you can get it. Lugworm will be out fished by these baits but I wouldn't leave home without it!

I'll see you on the beach
