Blue Circle (Sittingbourne)
Sea Angling Club

Issue 01.04 05.01.04

The Circular - your monthly newsletter

Here we go then the start of a new year, new places to fish, bigger fish to catch, all those trophies to win, no matter how well you did last year you will probably do better this year than last…..well you can but hope which is what this fishing is all about ….. expectation….. you never really know what you're going to catch….. the next bite may be that big one or another little whiting…… but whatever you catch this club will help you enjoy catching it that little bit more….. you cant always win but everyone is in with a chance and it could be you!

Your next chance to try out those new Christmas fishing socks/gloves/hats is at Hythe on the 17th January. This is one of the better beaches at this time of year especially if there has been a bit of a blow before we fish there. Expect to catch pouting, loadsa whiting, dabs, flounder, maybe some codling and those lovely little rockling close to the shore.
Lug worm will be a good bait to use at the match, a few sprats may take fish and a little bit of Ragworm (white preferably) will attract the flounders. If the wind blows up a storm before we fish shell fish (mussels or razor fish) will be the bait to use. Expect to see plenty of those little whiting about and those dabs love shinny shinny beads.
If you look back through your previous minutes/newsletters or on the web site for January 2001 results you may get an indication of what you could catch - the top 3 anglers caught 170 fish between them so be prepared to work up a sweat and make sure you have enough bait take 3 score of lug as a minimum if you can - you could use double that if you are lucky!
Take a variety of baits if you can.....some lugworm, ragworm, mackerel, squid etc to give you a chance of getting a variety of fish. Give Jason Mann a call and he might be able to get you some bargain bait.

I'll see you on the beach

Secretary
