Blue Circle (Sittingbourne)
Sea Angling Club

Issue 02/05 01.02.05

Here it is what you have been waiting for - your newsletter with news and views from your fishing club.

The next trip is on Saturday 19th February at Littlestone and with high tide at about 20.30 I think because it is quite a shallow beach there we will only be able to fish there for about 2 hours either side of high tide so the fishing will be from 18.30 to 22.30, pick up will be at 17.00 at the Centre 2000 car park opposite Aldi's in Sittingbourne.

As this is a new venue for the club it is important that when travelling down there we all try to stick in a convoy so no one gets lost on the way there - especially as it will be dark when travelling down there - the convoy leader shouldn't zoom off into the distance and the one at the back should try and keep up.

Expect to catch whiting, codling, dabs, flounders and rockling. Take a variety of baits to tempt their taste buds - black lug is pumped from this beach so lugworm will be a good bait to use. This shallow beach may seem featureless to the untrained eye but if you get down there early enough have a look to see if there are any gullies in front of you that the fish may swim along when the tide comes in. If you can before the match starts put your weight in the gully and walk back up the beach letting out line to where you will be fishing at high tide and then tie a knot in your main line (or tie a small elastic band around it). So when the tide comes in and covers the fish holding gully with water you can cast out from your high tide position on the beach and stop the line when the knot passes through your rod eyes - reel in until the knot is back to your reel and hey presto your baits are fishing in that hot spot gully where all the fish are. Give it a go see if it works for you. I will not be at the next match as I am on holiday but if you have any queries Chairman Nigel Sharrocks or Treasurer Kay Hammond should be able to help.

Tight lines

Secretary
