Well what can be said about the fishing Mecca that is know as Lloyds Building on the beautiful River Medway that has not been said by many more famous than myself - a conger hotspot someone once said…. Now who was that?????

Apart from conger expect to catch plenty of whiting, some big channel whiting have been caught recently, the ever obliging pouting, rockling and flounder and maybe a late bass or dogfish to add some spice to the proceedings. Now I could say there have been plenty of small codling caught but I don't know that for a fact but there should be one or two unless we get a load of rain shortly when the fishing can go downhill.
Any of the ragworms will attract the smaller fish particularly the pouting but lugworm tipped with squid or mackerel will be a better bet for better sized fish. Don't forget that drop net just in case. Take that headlamp along because it will be dark by 3.30 when the sun sets. If you get loads of bites but no fish lengthen the hook snood you are using and that will hook them up.

Look at the ground you will be fishing before the tide comes in to see if there are any channels or gullies that the fish may swim through in front of you. The tide can pull quite strongly here some make sure you take some grip weights. Some areas can be snaggy so have a look if you can before you set up and if you are unlucky enough to keep getting snagged up move to another spot where you may be better off.

That's all for the newsletters this year, have a look back over your fishing last year and ask yourself did you learn/improve much this year? I don't think I have learnt much that was new this year but have picked up a few things that I've made a note of….as you go about this fishing lark the more you do it the less there is to learn but you often forget things that you did read/learn/experience in years gone past. So my top tip for 2006 is get a diary for your fishing tackle box and write down what you caught, where, when, with what and note down those tips and ideas you pick up along the way….it will make interesting reading in 2007…..2015 etc!!!

If you have any queries, you are not sure about anything or you need to know something phone me on the number below and I'll do my best to help.
I'll see you on the beach
