Kingsdown 2
Park Regis,
sponsored by Deverson Direct, finished their season in fine style against
an in form Kingsdown. Regis started very quickly when Jack Stevens sent
over a well struck cross from the left hand side that was lobbed over
the keeper by Ben Gridley. Jack Stevens got the second shortly after by
powering the ball past the keeper. Scott Brown got the third for Regis
with a fantastic lob over the keeper from 30 meters out. But Kingsdown
were allowed to regroup and started playing the football they are capable
of and pulled 2 goals back before half time with a cross and a corner
from the left hand side of the pitch.
Regis refocused
their efforts after the interval with Richard Baker and Ben Gridley coming
close for Regis. Eventually the game started to go Regis way, after
one attack where 5 shots on goal in one attack were somehow stopped from
entering the Kingsdown net, Richard Baker pinged at shot at the keeper
who could only parry the ball into the path of Ben Gridley who poked the
ball home. It was Ben Gridley again who got the fifth for Regis with another
well hit lob over the keeper. The final goal of season for Regis was scored
by captain Jordan Padmore who nutmegged the shell shocked Kinsdown keeper.
A good performance by Regis that gained the whole team the Player of the
Match award.

Roseacre
2
Park Regis 2
Park Regis, sponsored by Deverson Direct, put on a determined display
against Roseacre playing with only 10 players for most of the game. Playing
against greater opposition did not phase Regis who created plenty of chance
themselves with Richard baker and Scott Brown coming close for Regis but
it was against the run of play that Roseacre scored the first 5 minutes
from half time when an innocuos throw in that should have easily been
cleared pinged around the penalty area and was lobbed over the Regis keepers
outstretched arms into the full size adult goals.
Regis kept their heads high and with renewed determination soon pulled
back the equalizer shortly after the break with Scott Brown scoring from
a long range free kick, imitating a Mendes goal this weekend who plays
for Portsmouth who Scott supports. Roseacre scored another from a well
hit corner header to take the lead again. Regis defenders Rcihard Lane
and Andrew Gregory worked hard in defence tracking back Roseacre attackers,
George Betts and Jordan Padmore ran tirelessly in midfeild for the entire
game and Jack Wetherell and Jack Stevens constantly probed the Roseacre
defence from the wings.
Regis' Player of the Match central defender Charlie Phipps thwarted every
Roseacre attack in open play and popped up in the second half to get a
much deserved equalizer for Regis tipping in a well place Scott Brown
corner. Regis were unlucky not to take all the points when Regis just
failed to get on the end of a well placed corner in the final throws of
the match. A fast paced all action match that was a credit to both teams.

Bearsted
0
Park Regis JFC 5
Park Regis, sponsored by Deverson Direct Ltd, put on one of their most
comprehensive dispalys of the season against high flying Bearsted. Jordan
Padmore opened the scoring for Regis by walking in a well weightedcross
from Ben Gridley affter 10 minutes. Gridley came close shortly afterwards
with a shot just past the near post but Ben Gridley got the second for
Regis when Charlie Phipps slotted through a lovely ball into the path
of Gridley who rounded the keeper and placed the ball in the back of the
net from an acute angle after 26 minutes.
The second half saw Regis continuing their domination of the play as Richard
Baker got the third, when the Bearsted keeper could only parry Bakers
powerful shot and he tucked the ball away into the far side netting. Scott
Brown kept the Regis momentum going with a skillfull lob over the keeper
for the fourth. Not to be outdone Richard Baker finished the scoring for
Regis with another lob over the flailing keeoper from distance. However
it wasnt just the goal scorers who deserve a mention in dispatches as
solid workmanlike performances from defenders Charlie Phipps and George
Betts earned them joint Player of the Match awards with Scott Brown from
Manger Neil Gridley who had a tough time narrowing down the award to three
players as all the Regis players put in a top notch performance.

Bower 0
Park Regis, sponsored by Deverson Direct, put on a competent display against
Bower in the icy blustery wind, showing their intentions early on as Charlie
Phipps and Jordan Padmore had good strikes just flying past the uprights.
Richard Baker came close for Regis with a head just over the bar. But
Regis didn't have it all their own way as Regis Player of the Match birthday
boy keeper Matt McCann has to react early and smother the ball bravely
at the feet of the charging Bower striker. Regis finally got their deserved
break as Scott Brown pounced on a spilled shot from the Bower keeper to
put the ball into the net and Regis went in 1-0 up at half time.
Jordan Padmore added another for Regis shortly after the break, pouncing
on a defensive error to shoot the ball home from within the 6 yard box.
Jack Stevens and Jack Wetherell kept pestering the Bower defence with
Ben Gridley supply some well placed passes and crosses to keep much of
the play in the Bower half. Richard Baker had the best chance to extend
the Regis lead, but somehow managed to sky the ball over the bar when
being just a few feet from the goal line - it was most probably harder
to miss the goal than put the ball into the net. Bower were unlucky not
to convert a late penalty that pinged off the bottom of the upright but
the better team won on the day.

Aylesford 1
Park Regis,
sponsored by Deverson Direct, didnt take long to start their footballing
celebrations in the new year with a convincing win over Aylesford. Regis
opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Jack Wetherell slotted home a
well worked goal on the right hand side of pitch but Aylesford were disappointingly
quick in pulling the goal back when the Regis defense were undecisive
in clearing a harmless ball played into the penalty area. Both teams were
a bit rusty after a few weeks without playing football with everyone treating
the ball like a hot potato trying to pass it on rather than siezing the
opportunity to do something constructive with it. However as half time
drew near it was Regis that were emerging as the more dominant force.
Shortly after the restart super sub Richard Baker put Regis in front with
a well struck low shot that passed the outstretched right hand of the
flailing Aylesford keeper. Regis added a third when Scott Brown coolly
put away a hotly disputed penalty. Regis played some good spells of football
with Man of the Match Jordan Padmore slicing open the Aylesford defence
with some visionary crosses and passes. Aylesford had their moments in
the second half but showed nothing that the Regis defence were unable
to cope with.

Sittingbourne Lions 3
Park Regis, sponsored by Deverson Direct Ltd, dominated this local derby
in the first half starting very brightly with Charlie Phipps, Richard
Lane and Jack Wetherell all coming close to opening the scoring for Regis.
Richard Baker hit the post at about the 10 minute mark and half way through
the half Scott Brown powered home the opener for Regis with a well hit
shot from 30 yards out. Lions managed a get a couple of corners in the
first half but could not find an opening through the solid Regis defence.
The second ahlf also started brightly for Regis with Richard Baker heading
just wide from a well taken corner and Jack Wetherell pinging a shot just
over the bar but the Lions fortune was about to change. Alistair Rushworth
opened the scoring for Lions sheilding and running the ball into the penalty
area a scorching home a well hit shot. Joint players of the match Jordan
Padmore and Charlie Phipps played with passion to get the goal back but
Rushworth got the second for Lions five minutes from time with a chest
height shot that should off been turned around the post just after a restart
with a Regis player still receiving treatment off the pitch. The final
goal was set up by Rushworth with a suspiciously off side pass across
the back of the Regis defence to be put in at the rear post by Dean Weston
for Lions to take the points.

Burham

Park Regis 3
Park
Regis, sponsored by Deverson Direct Limited, dominated the play in this
game with Burham hardly entering the Regis half in the first period of
play. Ben Gridley opened the scoring on about 12 minutes with a well place
shot into the bottom left corner of the net. Mid way through the half
Jordan Padmore added a second for Regis putting away a pass from Jack
Stevens in the centre of the penalty area. It was totally against the
run of play and just before half time that Burham pulled ome back with
a breakaway goal that they did not look as if they were going to get.
Regis
restored their two goal advantage shortly after half time when Scott Brown
put in a well weighted cross to Jack wetherell who deftly chipped the
ball over the outcoming keepers head. Regis Player of the Match George
Betts worried the Burham defence all match long gaining several corners
and making many shooting opportunities but Burham did not roll over and
toi their credit managed to get another breakaway goal that should have
been cut out by the Regis defence to pull one back. Burham finally scraped
the draw with the second to last kick of the match when awarded a penalty,
that they would have been bitterly disappointed with if it was awarded
to them, which was placed into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
A point gained for Regis but it was realyy another 2 pointsd lost.

Roseacre 2
Park Regis, sponsored by Deverson Direct Limited, dominated the play in
this game but could not capitalise on their possession. Regis started
the game brightly with good chances falling to Richard Baker and Ben Gridley
that were thwarted by the outstanding Roseacre keeper but it was a central
defensive error that saw Roseacre power through to score against the run
of play. Plenty of good moves from Jack Wetherell and Jordan Padmore could
not split the oppositions defence open and the home crowd couldnt believe
their team were 1-0 down at half time.
Regis started brightly again in the second half and their persistance
won them a penalty that was duely put away by Ben Gridley. Roseacre got
their second when a well delivered cross from the right hand side near
the by line was cut back across the goal mouth and drive home by the unchallenged
Roseacre attacker in the centre of the goal. A change in Regis tactics
saw the substitution of Player of the Match defender Andrew Gregory, who
had a solid game for Regis, with a more attacking formation to try and
chase for a win and despite corner after corner and good attacking opportunities
Roseacre managed to hang on to secure the points. A good overall team
display by Regis let down by a couple of defensive mistakes but many positives
can be taken from the game.

Hartley
4
Park Regis 2
Park Regis, sponsored by Deverson Direct limited, found it hard to get
their game going in the frosty conditions against a forceful Hartley.
Regis went a goal down early in the first half when a clearance from a
corner hit a Regis player and rebounded into the net. Regis battled hard
to keep the ball out of their half playing up the slope in the first half
and another cruel deflection into their own net from a corner saw Regis
go 2-0 down. But Regis picked themselves up go on with their task. Richard
Baker had the best chance of the first half in the 30th minute for Regis
but the in form Hartley keeper made a good save diving low to his left.
The second half saw Hartley extend their lead shortly after the break
when a deceptive Tierry Henry style flick diverted the ball through the
Regis keepers legs into the net. Although Regis' back four of Will Macmaster,
Jack Deverson, Charlie Phipps and Andrew Gregory were kept busy for the
whole of the match by Hartley, towards the end of the game Regis came
back against a flagging Hartley. With the introduction of Player of the
Match George Betts in a more forward role Hartley were finding themselves
more on the receiving end as Jack Stevens got the opener for Regis 10
minutes from time with a well worked goal on the left hand side. Stevens
added a second shortly afterwards and just missed out on his hat trick
as a couple of other good chances came his way. But with Regis pushing
forward in a positive way to salvage something from the game Hartley rushed
past the Regis defence to score. On another day Regis could have scraped
this one but on the day they were outgunned in midfield.

Regis 1
Bearsted 0
Park Regis, sponsored by Deverson Direct Limited, put on one of their
grittiest performances of the season so far to see off high flying Bearsted.
Richard Baker came close to getting the opener for Regis early in the
first half but a good save from the keeper kept out his firm shot on goal.
Jack Wetherell scored Regis' opener half way through the first half after
Regis won a corner from their constant pressure on the Bearsted defence.
Ben Gridley sent over the corner that was partially cleared towards the
rear of the penalty box where Wetherell deftly controlled the ball and
powered the ball into the back of the net leaving the Bearsted keeper
little time to react.
Regis keeper Mat McCann set up good attacking chances for Regis with some
long, long kicks out from the goal.
The second half saw Bearsted trying harder to salvage something from the
game but defenders Jack Deverson and Player of the Match Charlie Phipps
were more than a match for whatever was thrown at them. With probing Regis
attacks developing on the left hand side with Richard Lane linking up
well with Jack Stevens and Scot Brown, Bearsted found it difficult to
break out of their own half. Regis midfeilder Jordan Padmore played further
back in defence in the second half but still managed to to get off a couple
of good shots on goal. Right defender Andrew Gregory had a solid game
for Regis despite carrying a slight knock into the game and exemplified
Regis' determination.

Bower
1
Park Regis 3
Regis sealed
the points from this rain soaked match early in the game with a blitz
of an opening half scoring 3 goals in the first 8 minutes. Regis opened
the scoring when Ben Gridley put away a well struck free kick from outside
the penalty box high into the top right hand side of the goal. Regis'
second came from Jack Wetherell who cleverly controlled a good cross from
Scot Brown and slotted the ball home low into the corner of the net in
the 7th minute. Shortly after the restart it was Regis again applying
the pressure as Ben Gridley got his second in the 8th minute with a powerfully
struck shot from the right hand side on the goal finding the inside of
the side netting on the left hand side of the goal. Bower pulled one back
before half time when a loss of concentration in the Regis defence allowed
Bower to shoot which took a deflection and bobbled off the inside of the
left hand post to score.
The second half saw an improvement in the play from Bower but Regis were
unlucky not to extend their lead further with shots hitting the bar, the
post and some just traveling outside of the post. The heavy conditions
under foot and rain sapped the strength of both teams who did well to
keep the tempo of the game high. Regis Man of the Match was Scot Brown
who put himself about all over the pitch after over coming a recent injury.
Regis keeper Mat McCann thanked his defenders Will Mcmaster, Charlie Phipps,
Jack Deverson and Andrew Gregory for helping to keeps his gloves clean
which is an indication of Regis' dominance of this match.

Kingsdown

Park Regis JFC 5
The bright sunshine reflected the bright start by Regis when Jack Deverson
headed home into the top corner of the net from a well delivered Ben Gridley
corner. Jack Stevens added a second from another Ben Gridley cross. Not
only was Gridley setting them up he also added a third from a huge kick
out from Regis keeper Mat McCann just before half time. The strength and
dominace of Regis was upsetting the hard trying Kingsdown who became more
fractious as the match slipped from their grasp. Jack Wetherell added
another for Regis and attacking dynamo Richard Baker finally got a well
deserved goal slotting the ball home hard and low past the Kingsdown keeper
after coming close on numerous occasions in the match. A good all round
performance by the team earned them all the Man of the Match Award

Holtwood 0
Regis dominated
the first 20 minutes of the game by scoring 4 goals from Ben Gridley,
Richard Baker and a great header from Charlie Phipps. Regis went a player
down when Scott Brown hurt his knee and was carried off to hospital. This
did not deter the Regis side who went on to score another goal before
half time. Holtwood stepped up the pressure with their defending and only
let in 1 more goal. Player of the match William McMaster deserved the
award for his outstanding defensive play helping the Mat McCann to keep
a clean sheet.

Sissinghurst 2
An under
strength Regis team went 2 goals behind in the first half against a team
that they should have has the better of. Despite having some good chances
with Richard Baker, Jordan Padmore and Ben Gridley scattering shots around
the Sissinghurst goal, it was Jack Stevens who came closest for Regis
with a well struck shot saved by the red hot Sissinghurst keeper. Constant
Sissinghurst pressure in the second half kept Regis defenders Jack Deverson
and Charlie Phipps busy and meant that Regis found it difficult to attack
for the goals that they desperately needed.

Barming
2
Park Regis JFC 1
Regis piled on the pressure on the ir visit to Barming in the first half
with Scott Brown coming close for Regis. Jack Stevens created the best
chance for Regis in the first half when a ball came out of the Barming
penalty box from a Regis corner wiuth a sweet half volley that just went
past the post. But despite being the most dominant Regis could not take
the lead going into half time.
Barming took the lead shortly after the restart breaking through the Regis
defensive line to chip past the in form Regis keeper mat McCann. Regis
deservedly pulled one back when Scott Brown powered home a rebound off
the Barming keeper from a well timed Richard Baker shot. Barming restored
thier lead with a chip over the Regis defensive line and a well hit strike
into the regis net. Regis set about getting the goal back with great resolve
hitting the bar and forcing the Barming keeper making a good save from
a Scott Brown shot but were beaten by the clock. An entertaining match
that Regis deserved more from.

Aylesford
2
Park Regis 5
Regis were
back to winning ways with their trip to Aylesford. Ben Gridley opened
the scoring when he put away a deflected shot from Richard Baker. Baker
and Gridley both came close to scoring again before Scott Brown firmly
put away a penalty awarded against the Aylesford keeper who callously
brought down Richard Baker as he easily out dribbled him and lined up
a certain goal on an empty net. Jack Wetherell nearly cut the ball into
chips through the back of the goal net as he volleyed in a contender for
goal of the season just before half time to give Regis a three goal advantage
going into half time.
Jack Stevens extended the Regis lead shortly after the start of the second
half when he rounded the keeper and slotted home the ball into the low
left hand side of the net. But Regis did not have it all their own way
and Aylesford managed to scramble a goal in from a corner. Regis defenders
Andrew Gregory, Will Macmaster, Jack Deverson and Charlie Phipps were
all kept busy with the Aylesford attackers coming forward in numbers to
try and salvage something from the game. Regis keeper Mat McCann was called
upon to make some decisive moves coming quickly off his line on several
occasions to collect the ball from the feet of on coming attackers on
the short Aylesford pitch. Ben Gridley finished off the scoring for Regis
when he put away a good flick on from the midfield. Aylesford score a
late consolation goal with a high looping header. With Richard Lane and
Jordan Padmore providing great support to the rest of the team manager
Neil Gridley could not pick any one person for the Man of the Match Award
and awarded it to the whole team.

Bredhurst 4
The first
league game of the season saw Regis 3-0 down by half time but the scoreline
hid the effort and work being made by Regis who were unable to convert
numerous chances with Jack Stevens, Richard Baker, Ben Gridley and Jack
Wetherell all coming close for Regis. But it was a series of simple defensive
errors that saw Bredhurst take a good lead into the half time break.
A good half time team talk and a few oranges saw Regis win the second
half of the game. Although Bredhurst scored a break away goal early in
the second half it was Regis who took the game to the opposition and hard
working Richard Baker opened the scoring for Regis. Constant pressure
brought a second goal for Regis when Ben Gridley scored with a well weighted
lob over the flailing Bredhurst keeper. Even though Regis had two players
carried off injured they battled on but the final whistle brought relief
to Bredhurst before Regis could score again. A disappointing result for
Regis but they can take a lot of psoitives from their performance.
