20.05.01 Dungeness Point Fishing
from 10.00 - 16.00
Notable
fish caught: The calm sea and bright sunshine made for comfortable fishing conditions and sunburn but made the fish scarce. There was a light breeze blowing from Folkestone direction but hardly any waves to stir up the sea. The club were grouped together at the far end of the concrete road near the Point. The best bait was lugworm. The strong tide pulling right to left just after high tide was the most productive. About an hour before packing up, at just before low tide, the very strong tide was pulling from left to right and made it difficult to hold bottom with traces being pulled along the beach and into the shore. N Sharrocks lost a 1m long bass about 2m from shore while trying to untackle a crossed line with a near neighbour ..... he likes to do his bit for conservation!!! |
