This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologys to those whose information has not been added yet.
Photos of individuals can be found in their Scrapbooks. To see who has them click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am adding feature pages containing a more detailed mix of notes, photos and links. These pages are listed to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few.
NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.
Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.
If you find any errors or would like to update your line please let me know. Bean

Gran thought he was blown up in Australia in the war.
At present I have no proof of Francis' birth but information from John G. Storey states that from his marriage to Eliza Butler we know his father's name was Francis and the 1861 census at Brighton shows he was born abt.1809 in Hambledon, Hampshire:
The 1851 Census shows Francis and Ann at Hambledon with a Granddaughter Lucy b.1844 Hambledon (not Hornchurch) and Grandson William b.1847 Hambledon. Charles and Henry are shown unmarried so this proves that Francis and Ann had a son before Charles. The Grandson, William is not shown on the 1861 census below but there is a gap between Henry and Lucy.
1861 Census: 76 Elder Street, Brighton (from John G. Storey)

May have married Edward John, 18 Jun 1860 at St Nicholas, Brighton, although still unmarried on 1861 Census ?
A"Charles Colwell" with a father, Francis, married Emily Walls in Brighton, St Nicholas on 25 Nov 1872 (BVR)
Did she also use the name "Jane" ? If so this could be the family in 1881:
