This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologys to those whose information has not been added yet.
Photos of individuals can be found in their Scrapbooks. To see who has them click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am adding feature pages containing a more detailed mix of notes, photos and links. These pages are listed to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few.
NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.
Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.
If you find any errors or would like to update your line please let me know. Bean

1881 (Census as HEDDITCH) Botley Farm, Botley, Hants.Jane lived and worked at Beaulieu as a landscape gardener either before or after she was married. According to stories that Robin heard from her Grandmother (Mary Jane Hebdige), the Beaulieu family were present at Jane's funeral and possibly
paid all the costs.***************************************************
Robin's notes:A letter from Dorothy Gibson (Dorothy Bayford/Harris' cousin): "From things mother ( ) told me, Jane was a wonderful old lady, who, although in old age she lost the sight of her right eye, still sews and did much of her own housework. When she was younger worked on the farm. Left a widow in her early fifties with no widow's pension in those days. Henry lived at home and helped her. He didn't marry until she died. William, our grandfather, spent most of his life working on farms. Wasn't much work locally in those days. Henry was an engineer at Botley Mill, a building mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
Jane was buried February 1917 aged 88, in St Bartholomews, the old Botley Church graveyard. In searching the graveyard in 1997 I (Robin - great-great grand-daughter) could not find Jane's gravestone - she may have been buried beside John or in an unmarked grave. I searched the old newspapers in the Curdridge Archives and couldn't find any death notice, but the 1st World War was in force and maybe the paper stopped operating during that time.

Used to hide Ernest from the Germans during the war.
First name was something like Aggy?
Angel was married before she married Ernest. Her first husband was killed in the first world war. They had a son LEON? who was a policeman in Belgium, he was shot by the Germans in WW2.
She used to translate for the English or French during the war and was given a medal for her services by the French.
When she lived at Derby Road or Loxborough? Road, Southampton, she was so large that when she fell out of bed she had to be hoisted back into bed by the fire brigade, one of which later turned out to be a friend of Jack Blood in Salisbury.
She was also known to be a bit of a vixen.
