This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not been added yet.

Photos of individuals can be found in their Scrapbooks. To see who has them click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding feature pages containing an improved presentation of notes, photos and links. These are slowly being added and modified so please check every few weeks.

NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.

Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.

I still have a lot of data and feature pages to add, and many of the notes need tidying up but any new information is welcome. If you find any errors or would like to update your line please let me know. Bean

David Aberkirder Earl of Ross

Notes from: http://members.madasafish.com/~edann/innes2/ps01/ps01_151.htm
"Sir Walter Innes - married before 1370 a daughter of the Earl of Ross" CEI

Sir Walter de Innes

Notes from: http://members.madasafish.com/~edann/innes2/ps01/ps01_128.htm
In 1226 King Alexander II presented him with a charter of confirmation. Sir Walter was the first to use the name "INNES". Sir Walter is known to be alive on 7 Aug 1235, as he witnessed documents between Bishop Andrew of Moray on that date.

John Flandrensis

Notes from: http://members.madasafish.com/~edann/innes2/ps01/ps01_125.htm
It is not known if John outlived his father or ever became the head of the Innes lands. (Very little is known about any private individuals during the reign of William the Lion). However we do know that he exisited as he is named in the Charter, granted to his son, by king Alexander II, on 20 Jan. 1225.

Berowald Flandrensis

Notes from: http://members.madasafish.com/~edann/innes2/ps01/ps01_112.htm
Granted the Lands of Innes by Malcolm IV of Scotland at Christmas, in 1160 after, and probably as a result of, the King's concilliation with Somerled, Lord of the Isles. The lands lie between the Rivers Lossie and Spey in Morayshire. In 1160 Malcolm MacEth, Earl of Ross, was displaced from the province of Moray by King Malcolm IV. I believe that the lands of MacEth were those given to Berowald by the King at that time. I further think that a daughter of Malcolm MacEth was "given" to Berowald in a form of marriage and this is the situation which I have shown in the Tree. The MacEths were direct descendants of Earl Aed who was the husband of the daughter of Lulach, King of Scots, who had died in 1057. I believe that Berowald had a son by a previous marriage - shown in this tree as John.
