Introduction

Beddgelert Bridge
Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales is, without doubt, one of the most attractive villages in the whole of the United Kingdom.
The older, stone built, buildings contrast with newer architectural features and yet there is the impression of the whole village blending into a delightful small community. Situated at the confluence of two rivers and surrounded by mountains with Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales, a mere four miles away a more delightful holiday / vacation spot can hardly be imagined.
The beautiful Aberglaslyn Pass, the Colwyn valley and the Nant Gwynant valley join in Beddgelert. Within a few miles can be found high mountain peaks with hidden lakes, lower level lakes, wonderful wooded valleys and towering rocky slopes.
There is a timeless serenity and beauty about Beddgelert; it is a gem within the setting of outstanding natural beauty: and yet, it boasts modern amenities in the accommodation it can offer; the range of activities that are on offer within a very short distance. A warm welcome awaits the visitor to Beddgelert, a welcome that has been extended to travellers and tourists for centuries.
If you are still in doubt about the attractions of Beddgelert, here is an extract from the judge's report when Beddgelert won its' category in the Wales in Bloom competition in 2002, for the 11th successive time. " Beddgelert realises that its attractions, both natural and embellished are important commercially, and it makes a great effort to maintain its appeal. "
There are in existence a number of Web Sites relating to Beddgelert, most of them being concerned with a particular aspect of the village. This site is being designed to be all-encompassing.
Such has been the interest in this site that I have started including accommodation etc., as you will see above. It is my hope to also include some or all of the following
- Beddgelert as a residential village past and present.
- The influence of the Priory on the development of Beddgelert.
- The National Trust, a major land-owner.
- Amenities within the village - Shops, more accommodation.
- Local Arthurian legends and associations.
- Community activities and why Beddgelert has such a strong community spirit.
