THE BAYCRAFT BARGE

Location

The Baycraft Barge is moored at the Henley Rowing Club, Wargrave Road, Remenham, Nr Henley and is approached from the A4 via the A321 through Wargrave village towards Henley or from Henley on the A423 towards Maidenhead and a sharp right onto the A321.

Aims

The aim of the Barge is to offer a facility to groups of young people engaged in activities designed to enhance a sense of service to other people, a growth of the imagination and an environmental conscience for both Town and Countryside, and as an educational facility for young people engaged in field study or quiet study and revision.

Activities

Groups using the Barge will need to be self sufficient and self programming. There is wide scope for indoor and outdoor activity. The Barge is particularly suited to educational field study trips and off site school awaydays. Meetings and training events are also well suited to the Barge. The Barge is a good base for water activity, particularly canoeing and rowing.

Catering and the Gallery

There is a limited supply of pots, pans and crockery and it should be possibly to cater for 24 with the equipment available. The gallery can double as a dining area if the lounge area is required for other purposes. There is a fridge, electric cooker, microwave and hot water is available through an immersion heater.

Lounge area

There are small tables and chairs plus a bench seat the length of the room. Additional equipment will be added as funds allow. This room also doubles as a 'rest area' for overnight stays.

There are no bedrooms as such. A room at the end of the Barge may be used by staff or for additional privacy or small meetings.

Private Functions

The Barge can cater for only 24 fairly comfortably either on the roof or inside - Buffet style perhaps up to 36.

We believe the Barge is particularly suited to mid week day time use by schools and we would welcome enquiries and bookings.
