Martin Daws-Chew was elected to the County Council in 1993. He was Chairman of the Libraries and Archives Committee and has served on the Coast and Countryside Committee and Chichester Harbour Conservancy. He is a trustee of the Cobnor Activities Centre, a registered charity. Born in Bracklesham, he retired as a Home Office civil servant. He was also in the Diplomatic Service in Accra and Warsaw. He is married with two children.

Tony is Chairman of QS Group Plc. He was formerly Financial Director of Dixons Group plc. He has been a councillor in Haringey, London and was Chairman of the North Middlesex NHS Hospital Trust from 1994 to 1999. He is a Policy Advisor to the Cabinet Members for both Education and Arts and Social and Caring Services. He is a member of the Planning Committee and is Chairman of the Schools Organisation Committee. Tony is also Governor of Chichester High School for Boys and of North Mundham Primary School. He has two daughters and four grandchildren and his hobbies are gardening, history, travel and family.

Mark Dunn is a company director with experience of international management consultancy specialising in insurance and marketing. He has served on West Sussex County Council since 1997, and is the Cabinet Member of Social & Caring Services. He is also a member of Chichester District Council, the Regional Flood Defence and Environment Protection Advice Committee, Vice Chairman of the Sussex Police Authority and the Sussex Downs Conservation Board. His special interests are green matters and energy conservation, human health and mortality trends and countryside matters. He is married with six children and 12 grandchildren and his hobbies are walking, woodland affairs and travel.

Louise Goldsmith has a special interest in green issues and tourism and was a Chichester District councillor from 1987 to 1995 where she was Chairman of the Leisure and Tourism Committee and Eastgate Development Sub-Committee. She was a parent governor of the Central C of E Junior School and Chichester High School for Boys. She is Principal of a firm of independent financial advisers and her hobbies are walking, gardening, sailing, yoga, reading, theatre and opera.

Sally Greenwell was first elected to the County Council in l985 when her family first left home, and she had the time to give to local government. She has held many posts in Chichester constituency from local branch officer, to Women’s Chairman, Campaign Support officer and two terms as Constituency Chairman. On WSCC she has enjoyed a continuing interest in Education, and, in particular, Special Education for disabled learners and is currently the cabinet member for Education & the Arts.  She is a Governor at Chailey Heritage School, her local school in Petworth and Fordwater Special School in Chichester.   Sadly widowed in l990, she enjoys 6 grandchildren, who keep her up to date. Although no longer farming at River, her family still run a Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable business. Daughter Joanna and her husband manage a chain of public houses in London, and her second daughter travels in Africa, sourcing goods and crafts for the UK interior decorating market. Her family enjoy country sports and  Sally herself is a keen follower of National Hunt Racing.

Peter Jones is a retired company director. He had a successful management career in large British companies prior to starting his own business. He was able to retire early to follow his interests in local Government, the community and environmental affairs. He was elected to the County Council in 1997 and is also a member of Chichester District Council and West Itchenor Parish Council. He is married with a son and daughter.

Tex Pemberton works for the Ministry of Defence as a Development and Doctrine Officer to the Provost Marshal of the Army. He has been a County Councillor since 1997 and his experiences have been as Chairman of the Standards Committee, Vice Chairman of the Fire, Police and Public Protection Committee, Coast and Countryside and Highways Committees. He is now Cabinet Member for Strategic Environmental Services responsible for Land Use Planning; Transport Planning and Highway Services; Economic Strategy; Coast and Countryside; Environment Rural and Urban. Colonel Pemberton served in HM Forces for 40 years. Tex is married to Zena and has three daughters. His special interests are military history and politics, and his hobbies are polo and gardening. Tex is a Trustee of a number of military and civil organisations and an organising Member of the West Sussex Committee of the Army Benevolent Fund, a Charity supporting past and present members of the Army and their dependants.

Alan Phillips retired at the end of 2000, but until then was Managing Director of a UK subsidiary of a large international company. He was first elected to the County Council in 1997. Prior to introduction of the Cabinet System, Alan served on County Committees for Education, Strategic Planning and General Purposes. Now he is Policy Advisor to the Cabinet Member for Strategic Environmental Services on Planning matters. Alan is currently serving on the Select Committees for Education & the Arts and Resources & Information Services. Alan also serves on the Planning Committee. Alan was a member of the former Havant and Waterloo Urban District Council from 1960 to 1972, and was Chairman for two years. A founder member of the Hambrook Residents Association, he was chairman for four years. Married to Christine in 1960, they have three sons and two grandchildren.

Colin married Christine in 1960 and moved to Harting in 1964.   They have a daughter who lives in Cambridgeshire and a married son and  two grandchildren, who attend Primary School  in West Sussex.  Colin’s job took him to the East Midlands for 12 years. However Harting, was always kept as their permanent home.As a Chartered Accountant, Colin spent his professional life working in industry, serving on the Boards of various nationally known companies, visiting many  countries in the course of business. At retirement in 1995, aged 57, he was Finance Director of a large cement company. He has been a County Councillor since 1997, holding the Chairmanship of several committees in the past, but now holds the position of Cabinet Member for Resources, dealing with the county’s people, money, and assets.Colin still holds a County Council licence to drive mini-buses, and is an accredited driver of the Harting Mini-bus, and Tandem ambulances in Midhurst.  Colin has acted as a business adviser to young people supported by the Princes Trust, and been a voluntary worker at the King Edward VII Hospital in Midhurst. For recreation, Colin enjoys choral singing, and fly-fishing.
