Tusken Raider / Sandpeople |

Above and below are three
shots from the excellent Star Wars Chronicles showing the detail of the
main (hero?) Luke-attacking Tusken from ANH. Like almost all the other
original helmets, the Tusken raider helmet was fabricated by free lancers
Nick Pemberton and Andrew
Ainsworth. The metal parts were turned on a
lathe by Andrew's father, an experienced metalworker. |

Archive's and right on display at the
SF MOM. |

above another shot, this one from the LFL Archives and
this great shot below thanks to Franz Bolo |

| Again from one of the recent
Lucasfilm exhibitions.... |

| Above and below a couple of superb
close-ups of the male and female Tusken Raiders/Sandpeople from the new
trilogy, specifically AotC |

Rebel X-Wing Pilots |
Above, photo's from SF's MOM Exhibition, and below is a prototype of the X-Wing
Fighter Pilots' helmets from ANH for the attack on the Death Star
(auctioned at Christie in London in December 2002 for just $4,136). The
final used version of the helmets were painted white with red and blue
insignia; they also had chin straps rather than the mouthpiece section of
the helmet in this photo (which was presumably changed for aesthetic
reasons so the actors faces could be more fully seen. In total 20 X-Wing
pilot helmets were fabricated for ANH. |

and above a shot of Luke's X-Wing helmet (not sure which
film) from the LFL Archives and below another shot of this same helmet at
a LFL exhibition. Photo courtesy Franz Bollo |
| Below a couple of Screengrabs from
ANH of Luke's X-Wing helmet. I've upped the contrast a little so you can see
the detail. |
| Although the detailing on some
helmets used decals, it look to me and Rich B that all of Luke's detailing
is hand painted, including the red phoenix logo's. |
| And below another of the "Hero"
X-Wing helmets, this one Porkins. |
| Below some shots of Wedge's helmet |

| I don't think its ever been
confirmed who painted and weathered the hero helmets although I expect it
would have been the prop guys at Elstree. |

| Below, I've flipped this image to
its "correct" orientation since in the movie he's looking to the right.
However as you can see when comparing this to the image above that we're
looking at the left side of the characters face and helmet. This is a common
"trick" in films where you flip film if you suddenly realise you need a shot
of the character pointing the other way. |
| and another close up of the
detailing, this time the right side of the helmet. |

| Below, Biggs' helmet. These helmets
were all hand painted apart from a few decals like the circle/stripes on the
mohawk and the blue "Phoenix" logo seen on some rebel helmets. |

| Not sure what the make of the
headset electronics were on the original helmets although its been suggested
they were a set of original USAF APH ear pads and Racal Mini-lite Headsets. |

| Next up Luke PRE Death Star with a
different X-Wing Helmet (note the mohawk detailing) - this shows there
were two Luke Hero helmets. |
| Below, a nice Hi Def close-up of the
other helmet, lightened to show detail. |

| Below a nice shot of Luke's Blast
Shield helmet. |

Rebel Fleet Troopers |
| Next a couple of RoCKo's Hi-def
screen grabs of the RFT helmets. As with a number of the ANH helmets the
movie helmets were made by Andrew Ainsworth from a light grey ABS with an
acrylic smoked dark grey visor (probably the same as the TIE and Hero
Stormtrooper bubble lens material) |

| A couple of dozen of these were
made but strangely hardly any have ever shown up in recent years suggesting
most were trashed after filming. |

Miscellaneous - Others |
| ..a number of these photos come
courtesy of Franz Bolo, who took them some time ago at the Might of Magic
Exhibition in Houston, Texas. Many thanks to him for sharing them. |

Here's a great shot of Chewy - again one of the original
costumes, and below a screen-grab from ANH |

| Above the original Phantom Menace
Anakin Pod Racer Helmet, and below one of the Yoda props, possibly Return
of the Jedi |

Below, an original Ewok from RotJ. |

Funny how they don't look so sweet when they're chucking
rocks at yer head! |
This big brute is of course the Wampa (probably the
Special Edition one) from the LFL Archive, and below (another?) Wampa
taken at a recent 2006 Exhibition (Thanks TK7602!) |

| ...and below the hairy feller as
seen in the Special Edition in this Hi Def screengrab. |
Above and below images of various RotJ aliens from
Jabba's entourage from LFL Archive. |
and finally below from L to R, Admiral Ackbar (or
one of his mates), some geezer from Jabba's Palace and 4-LOM the Droid
Bounty Hunter from ESB. |
| Below a better shot of Ackbar from
Franz Bolo (again an exhibition photo) |

| ...and Weequay (I think) |
| ..and as he was on-screen (not much
prettier) |

| ...ok, everyone all together "UUUuuuuttttiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnniiiiiiiii"
Thanks again to Franz. |
and finally Leia's Boussh disguise from Return of the
Jedi... |

| Below, Trooperprop sent me
these wonderful shots he took of the original Boussh helmet. |
| Despite its age it really is holding
up well. Of course by the time of RotJ, Lucasfilm had really started to look
after their costumes so everything was logged and accounted for. Quite a
long way from the helmet and prop free for all which seemed to follow
the wrapping of the original movie! |

| Not sure of the materials used but
presume its fiberglass and resin with leather on the "snout" |

| Above a nice close up of the
thing to the right of the visor (what is that?) |

| And then side profile shots showing
the leather and canvas strapping/detailing |

| And finally an unusual shot from
above. Again many thanks to Trooperprop for these excellent photos
which are EXACTLY the kind we're looking for. Great close up's and he's been
able to get the detail and avoid the common problems we've all encounter
with Flashes when photographing articles behind glass. Well done! |

| And finally how she was on-screen in
this Hi-Def Capture |

| From Revenge of the Sith here's a
couple of shots of General Grievous and one of his Magna Guards. Many thanks
to JediWannabe for these excellent hi-res pics. |
| Above a great Hi-Def capture of Bib
Fortuna, as far as I know I dont think anyone's attempted a replica of this
(unless you know otherwise). Cant think why. Below one of my favourites, a
rather dumb looking Gamorrean Guard. |

| Finally from the OT a couple of
RoCKo's Hi Def Screengrabs of Greedo |
