Hello!
A quick run-down on my story.
I applied for building regulations at the Reading
building control department for a single story extension
at 57 Ambrook Road in March. And there
were of course suggestions for changes by the
building regulators which were duly followed up by me and my
builder. So we submitted ammended plans to the
building regulators at around the 2nd of April. Last
Thursday, I got the letter with the rejection of my plans
on the basis of the first submitted plans, because the
ammended plans have gone lost within the Building
control department. Luckily, I handed the revised plans in
in person and discussed all points with the duty building
officer on the day, who himself reassured me, that we had taken all
suggestions duly into account and that the plans as they are will
pass and no further delay shall be expected. Now, they
invite us to resubmit the plans
and start all over again. Not only will this delay
building to start for weeks on end, it will cost me a fair amount
of money, to get revised plans written by my builder, whose
time doesn't grow on trees either. I think this is a disgrace and I
complain about this. What does this bad work tell
about the quality of the service of the building regulations
department on the whole? And what realy is annoying, is that
we stand here on the receiving end, paying for a service in
full and up-front, not beeing served at all, and unable to
object or do anything about it. Hence I turn to you, to take matters
in hand and set the record streight.
Could you please follow this up and trace the plans and help us to finally get this project up and running? It is a real pity to waiste so many resources on such a small project in any case.
In your opinion, should I just have built and bent the law? All I wanted, is to get the project complying with the rules.
