The Bengal Cat is a beautiful pedigree domestic cat which originated in America in the 1960’s as a result of crossing Asian leopard Cats with domestic cats. Through careful selective breeding and after much hard work these pioneering breeders in the States produced the Bengals we know and love today. The breed was introduced into Great Britain at the beginning of the 1990’s and has achieved great popularity very quickly due to it’s unique pedigree, superb coat and excellent dependable temperament. All over the world breeders are striving to improve and enhance this already captivating breed still further and it is the role of clubs such as the Bengal Cat Club of Great Britain to play an active part in both the future developments and the general welfare of the breed. The club exists not only for breeders, but also owners and admirers of the Bengal cat and takes an active part in promoting the breed to the general public. For members there is a club newsletter which has a wide range of articles personal experiences and anecdotes, health issues, humour etc. The club is now one of the larger Pedigree Cat clubs in Great Britain and is proud to be a TICA chartered club.
