How To Find A Bengal Kitten
A number of BCCGB breeders also advertise on our breeders page (due to the very high demand for Bengal kittens many breeders kittens are sold before the are ready to be placed on the kitten register so do try these breeders as well if you are searching for a kitten) The BCCGB offers the kitten register and the website listing as a service to its' members to find suitable homes for their kittens - every member of the BCCGB signs a code of conduct relating to the welfare of their Bengals. However, a listing on the club website is NOT an endorsement of that breeder by the club - it is up to the prospective purchaser to satisfy him/herself that the kitten they buy has been well cared for and is fit and healthy. Please remember that lower generation cats generally DO NOT make good household pets. The following information may be useful when looking for kittens. Before visiting any breeder to view kittens please bear in mind the following points :- * If you are looking for a Bengal to show or breed explain this to the breeder when you first enquire to be sure they have suitable kittens for you to view available. * When viewing any kittens irrespective of breed look out for any potential health problems such as sneezing, coughing, etc. (Bengals are generally very hardy cats and do not have any predisposition to health problems) * Prices for Bengals do vary considerably, for instance kittens bought for breeding cost considerably more than those bought as pets. You cannot register as pedigree Bengals any kittens bred from a cat unless it has been registered appropriately for breeding. If you buy a girl which is not registered appropriately for breeding NO reputable breeder would allow you to take her to their stud under any circumstances - even in the highly unlikely event you did find a stud owner willing to take your queen - any resulting kittens could not be registered and would not be recognised (or valued) as pedigree Bengals. * If you are considering buying a Bengal ALWAYS ensure that the kitten is registered with an appropriate registration body such as TICA, Fife or the GCCF, any responsible breeder who has the welfare of the cats at heart would never dream of breeding a pedigree cat without registering it. |
