Salt Lake City, Utah, USA soon after the 1881 census.

William painted the well-known painting "Joseph Smith Preaching to the Indians"
which hangs in the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City. He taught drawing at the University
of Utah from 1881 to 1882.
