UK Bands RingUK Bands RingThe UK Bands Ring is intended to function as a directory of UK bands, duos and soloists. It was created out of the frustration at trying to find bands in the UK with a presence on the Web. Most resources (the ones I've found at any rate) are of international scope which isn't much use if, for instance, you are trying to find out where a band is gigging within driving distance tonight. The search engines don't seem to be much better at this sort of thing either.
As many of you will know, Yahoo! have recently taken over the Web Ring system.
Over the last six months or so, the automated web ring management system has become increasingly erratic and tempremental, resulting in some ring members being removed from the ring (against my and their wishes), broken rings and more. The old ring management system in place when UK Bands was created was kludgy but worked.
The takeover by Y! is pretty much the last straw. An alternative system is currently under investigation. Meanwhile, those who wish to join the UK Bands ring shoul send me mail at brian.stafford@ukonline.co.uk. When the ring has moved over to the new system, you will be sent further instructions on how to proceed.
