The School is to be regarded as an organism under development. In form it is in the nature of an experiment. There are, for example, no teachers or pupils, only participants in the courses. All are fellow-students. The School is wholly funded by voluntary contributions. All share in the development of the School.
The Goal
Skolan Esoteriska Vägen is a way of self-education. Through
meditation and study of the laws of the spiritual world, it offers to help
the seeking human being to find the tools and discover the insights he or
she needs for their spiritual growth.
The School aims to function as an instrument for the spiritual seeker, and provide an opportunity -
Concerning the Way
The esoteric seeker for truth is essentially self-taught. It is
only what we know and what we experience ourselves that constitutes the
truth for us. What others might tell us can give rise to questions and
perhaps illusions which eventually we either reject or convert to new
insights.
Den Esoteriska Vägen involves study, meditation and service. It does not demand acceptance of anything. Only those truths which awaken a response in the seeker's innermost being are of value. A truth is its own authority. The person who is moved by a universal truth also recognizes that its source lies beyond all written records. Such an insight invites us to tolerance and humility.
The Study Material
Skolan Esoteriska Vägen offers study materials which cover among
other things: an orientation in esotericism, meditation, esoteric
psychology, the principle of service and the study of symbols.
The studies take place above all in local study - and meditation - groups. Working in groups provides an opportunity for participants to train and practise group consciousness.
For those who because of geographical or other reasons are unable to join a study group, there is an opportunity to work individually.
The studies are undertaken in continual contact with the School. In addition, large meetings for the whole School are held with group meditations, thematic discussions and talks. Sometimes special guest speakers are invited to speak at these meetings.
The esoteric truths have been handed on through many traditions, teachers and methods and these meet the different needs of spiritual seekers. In the suggestions for further reading in the study material there are frequent references to the works of Alice Bailey. By referring to this source in particular it has been possible to maintain a certain consistency in the terminology used and provide a clearer focus. Participants are, however, encouraged to seek inspiration from other sources as well.
The School strives to offer a Way which will be instructive, enriching and enjoyable to follow.
Conditions for Joining the School
The School imposes no formal requirements for joining its
programme, but rather turns primarily to those searching for a meaning to
their existence, their task in life and who have understood or believe that
insight concerning these comes from "inside". The School is directed to
those people who wish to do something positive in and for the world and
feel the need for a more secure inner basis for their service.
There exist today many different ways for individuals to devote themselves to spiritual development. Different people need different schools. Skolan Esoteriska Vägen is based on work in group-formation. One of the conditions for participating in the School, therefore, is to have a practical and personal possibility to take an active part in group-work and meditation, to attend meetings of the group and carry on regular study.
Financing
The economy of the School is based on voluntary contributions and
donations - in conformity with the principle of Goodwill. Each and every
person gives in accordance with his or her commitment to the work and as
circumstances allow.
