Aims &

Objectives

Bromley Mencap seeks to promote, in partnership with those concerned, the well being and development of people with a learning disability of all ages in all areas of their lives; and to provide support, as needed, to their families/carers.

Aims

To ensure that those making or implementing policies, or allocating resources with implications for people with a learning disability, are informed about and are responsive to their needs and aspirations.

To ensure that the general public of all ages are aware of the potential, wishes and concerns of people with a learning disability, and accept them as individuals with rights to be respected, obligations to meet and contributions to make in their local community.

To ensure that those responsible for the standards of services, and for training and management of staff, give priority to the quality of the support and the choices and opportunities available to people with a learning disability.

To ensure that Bromley Mencap itself provides services in support of individuals and their families, where such services can best be provided by the Society, fit appropriately into the wider network of services, and are adequately resourced to sustain high quality.
