Attentiveness to the everyday is the subject of my
work. I have consistently made art-work
out of everyday objects and activities.
The notion of the everyday is different for each individual and cultural
context. Nevertheless, it refers in a
broader sense, to the familiar, and yet often disregarded, space surrounding
and occurring around us on a daily basis.
The everyday is everywhere and nowhere: it is everywhere when one looks
at something and sees it; it is nowhere when one looks but sees nothing.
My work as a whole explores the as-it-is-ness of
things and interconnectedness between objects and people. I see everyday posted as an accumulation of
threads that connect us together, which point to the possibility of mapping a heterogeneous,
diversified and complex totality.
Herein, the interactions lie between the elements of the everyday,
accessible only by attentiveness and microscopy. I shuttle and probe the interstices between
objects and people to bridge, sew and shed light on the invisible threads. The works are grouped into sculpture, interactive
performance, and time based work as shown in this space.
