Most walks in the Cairngorms are physically demanding and groups must be reasonably fit especially at Gold level. |

Training All groups intending to visit the area must have completed a training programme in line with the Award regulations. The level of training must reflect the difficulty of the final venture. Special emphasis must be placed on; ¨ Equipment and load carrying. ¨ Menu/Nutrition planning. ¨ Safety and Emergency procedures ¨ First Aid. ¨ Navigation. ¨ Paperwork including accurate route cards, consent forms, green forms. Fitness Most walks in the Cairngorms are physically demanding and groups must be reasonably fit especially at Gold level.
Practice Journeys It is important that an appropriate number of practice journeys are undertaken depending on factors like the extent of walking experience and the nature of chosen route from a physical or navigational perspective. |
